Ayurveda considers eye as the sthana for Thejo mahabhootha which is essential for vision whereas it is also susceptible for heat and dryness. Environmental pollution and seasonal shifts disrupt the balance of the Doshas—specifically Vata and Pitta. Pollution acts as a dual aggressor: fine particulate matter physically irritates the eye, increasing inflammation, while simultaneously disrupting the tear film, leading to dryness. Ayurvedic practices offer targeted protection for eyes against pollution-induced irritation and seasonal dryness, especially in winter when low humidity and indoor heating aggravate Vata and Pitta doshas. To protect your vision against these stressors, Ayurveda suggests a combination of daily routines (Dinacharya) and seasonal adjustments (Ritucharya) along with Dietary support to balance doshas, nourish ocular tissues, and prevent eye disorders.
