Joint Research
In post Human Genome Project era, Collaborative Research on Ayurveda and Modern Biology is a much conversed research arena. To materialize this aspiration a team effort of both veterans and institutions in Ayurveda and Modern Biology is essential.
Department of AYUSH
The Department of AYUSH under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has awarded a Grant - in - aid of Rs. 500 Lakhs to establish a Centre of excellence in Ayurveda Nethra Chikitsa (Ophthalmology) to Streedhareeyam. As part of this, under a Joint Research Scheme, the organization will be carrying out Standardisation of 50 Ayurvedic Formulations used mainly in Ayurvedic Ophthalmology as part of Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia Committee Programs.
Plans to conduct animal trials
The organization plans to conduct animal trials as part of some Joint Research activities on its products associating with reputed hospitals having animal houses. As part of this, a study program has been initiated with the Pharmacy College and Animal House of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences at Cochin to determine the Anti microbial, Anti inflammatory and Anti oxidant activities of some Sterile Herbal Eye Drops.
Joint Clinical Research Program
The Central Council for Research in Ayurveda & Siddha (CCRAS) under the Department of AYUSH is carrying out EMR Projects. Sreedhareeyam has already submitted a joint Research Project on Diabetic Retinopathy associating with a modern ophthalmologist and necessary Ethical Clearance by an Independent Ethics Committee has been obtained for this work. Several other Joint Research projects on disorders like Retinitis Pigmentation, Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD), Keratoconus etc are being planned.
